Is allowing weight training in prison a good idea?
I believe so because it gives them something to do. When a person is in prison, they aren't able to do anything productive. Weightlifting is a type of exercise. Exercise releases endorphins. Endorphins make you happy and less likely to do something destructive. Also weightlifting might help one's self-confidence go up. It helps release aggression, which will help them learn to take their frustrations out on more constructive things.
I totally agree with you! Weightlifting should not be taken away from them because like you said it's healthy and it helps them release aggression or stress that they have while in prison. With having weight lifting it helping inmates take their stress/aggression and turn it into something constructive!
